On the occasion of our 15th anniversary in Noken, the bathroom equipment firm from the Porcelanosa Grupo, our journey continues through the testimonies of one of the most prestigious architects around on the international scene. On this occasion, we stop to have a look at the vision of Luis Vidal, the designer who gave life to the acclaimed MOOD collection.
Luis Vidal understands architecture as a lifestyle in which the functionality and service to society prevail in the occupation of space of which it belongs to. Thus, the architect is characterized by a strong commitment to innovation and a constant search for functional, flexible and sustainable designs, a vision that has led him to achieve worldwide recognition.
One indication of this is the successful design of the bathroom taps from MOOD collection, an electronic and highly innovative design created jointly with Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners in order to offer users more for less. MOOD has won distinguished international awards like the Product & Graphic Design by Green Good Design, Best bathroom product at 100% Design 2013 or Bathroom product innovation of the year by KBBreview.
The designer conceives each space as unique and always brings something distinctive to each project that he undertakes. In addition, Luis Vidal believes that adding experiences, effort and possibilities through collaborative work with local professionals provides final results that improve the original idea.
A RIBA member since 1995 and an Associate Professor at one of the most important architecture schools in Spain, the Superior Technical School of Architecture in Madrid (STSAM), he founded his own studio in 2004, Luis Vidal + Architects Associates, and his career is filled with important projects such as the Heathrow Terminal 2 in London.
