Wednesday, March 22, is World Water Day. An internationally established date by the United Nations to which Noken, the bathroom equipment company from the PORCELANOSA Grupo, has wanted to join.
Because if there is something that defines PORCELANOSA Bathrooms then it is its commitment to sustainability and water saving, especially when designing a modern bathroom that is also committed to ecology. Innovative technology from Noken has allowed the firm to design exclusive, elegant and practical bathroom collections which also ensure energy efficiency. The objective: to achieve a functional use and completely adapted to the needs of each user but without causing a great impact on the environment.
Humanity needs water
This is the motto promoted by the UN to raise awareness about the essentiality of water in sustainable development. Water resources play an important role in reducing poverty, economic growth and environmental sustainability. Water is necessary for life, but it is also conducive to social well-being and growth, and if it is not available, as in many regions of the world, it can affect issues that affect food and energy security, human health and the environment.
Nowadays, more than 663 million people, according to the UN, live without a supply of drinking water near their homes. This forces the population to travel long distances in order to be self-sufficient, which also means having to consume contaminated water. Therefore, on World Water Day, the United Nations warns everyone about the importance, in developed countries, of not wasting water, through sustainable mechanisms in homes, cities, industry and agriculture. It also tries to raise awareness about the importance of reusing and not contaminating the water we have, causing an irreparable impact on the environment and losing its valuable nutrients.
The importance of a sustainable bathroom
Approximately 71% of the earth's surface is covered with water, but only 2% of it is safe to drink. Therefore, water is scarce, so it should be preserved and taken care of. Noken is committed to its products so that it can make an effort to conserve this vital element, so it focuses on its designs on sustainability and efficient water consumption.
- Double ECO Cartridge Cisterns: one of the systems that Noken implements in its bathroom equipment is its double ECO cartridge cistern for sanitaryware. It is a highly innovative technology that allows for selecting, depending on the use, if you want a more abundant water discharge (4.5 litres); or if a more moderate discharge (3 litres) is opted for. This practice even saves 25% of water, comparing this system with the traditional sanitaryware.
- ECO Aerators: A system which not only saves water, but also consumes less energy and emits less CO2. For this, Noken mixes in its shower heads air and water to avoid the waste of water, of 2, 3.5, 5 and 7 litres per minute. The energy saving is provided by a heating of a smaller quantity of water, emitting, therefore, less CO2 to the atmosphere.
With its ECO bathroom systems, Noken shows that a functional, comfortable, stylish and avant-garde bathroom design does not have to clash with sustainable commitment. We promote rational use and say No to waste on World Water Day.
