Touchless for the home vs touchless for public spaces

In these times, our need for touchless or contactless solutions takes on new relevance because of their capacity to prevent the virus spreading through contact. They're a vital solution for public or shared bathrooms, but they're increasingly being used in private bathrooms too.

Touchless bathrooms have become an essential option for both public and private bathrooms. Covid-19 and its ability to spread via the kind of natural of gestures we make all the time, such as touching our faces, has made contactless bathroom solutions one of the best bets for creating safer spaces.

Elements such as sensor taps are becoming increasingly popular in public bathrooms, hotel bathrooms and domestic bathrooms. Installing them in public or shared spaces or homes offer distinct advantages. So in terms of the different designs available, what exactly do each of these spaces need?

Touchless solutions for the home

Although your home is possibly the safest place to be during the pandemic, you also need to step up your precautions in your house bathroom. Incorporating contactless elements into the planning and design of the space in a private home will provide a number of benefits.

  • Electronic taps with sensors can be operated without making any physical contact, making your bathroom a much more hygienic and safer space. They also save on water consumption, as the tap stops running whilst you wash your hands - without you even having to touch the taps. Most of our models such as our Round, Square, Tono, Hotels and Irta designs incorporate Noken Eco Flow technology, optimising water consumption and achieving savings of up to 70%.

  • Bathroom mirrors are another important and frequently-used fitting in a home bathroom. Our range of contactless solutions for the home includes illuminated LED mirrors, operated by motion sensors. Namely, our Square, Lounge, Tile and Pure Line models. Some of the mirrors also incorporate anti-fog technology as well as lighting up when you get close to the mirror.

Touchless solutions for public and shared bathrooms

Public and shared bathrooms - such as those in shopping centre and hotel bathrooms - have much higher levels of traffic than domestic bathrooms. The sheer number of people using them makes contactless solutions an absolute essential.

One trend we're seeing on this front is the use of doors that open and close automatically, as well as automatic lighting systems. This way there's no need for users to touch any switches or handles.

Noken has solutions that incorporate technologies conceived specifically for public bathrooms, protecting spaces and ensuring they remain safe.

  • Electronic taps with automatic sensors are becoming an essential for public spaces. The fact that you don't have to touch a tap that hundreds of people have already touched throughout the day helps to minimise the spread of viruses or bacteria enormously. Using the sensor taps in high-traffic spaces can have a beneficial economic effect too: they can achieve water savings of up to 70% as the taps will switch of whilst the user rubs soap into their hands.

  • Now that we use hand sanitising gel so much more to prevent catching the virus, using touchless dispensers is a must.

  • Touchless toilet flush systems are highly hygienic solutions for public or hotel bathrooms, and are operated by the IR I-Comfort Line flushing system, available in steel or Finish Studio matt black. Another solution is our direct feed urinal with an IR flush valve, which uses an infrared sensor to control the flush. These contactless flushing systems don't only mean users can avoid contact when activating the flush, but also ensure the tank flushes in between each use. This is something that improves both hygiene and the user experience in public bathrooms.
