Osmotised water technology filters and purifies water, and having an osmosis tap is a convenient option that makes water healthier with one simple gesture.

In many areas, the water from the kitchen tap is very hard, tastes unpleasant and is of poor quality. This lack of quality often means that people have to buy bottled water, with all the inconvenience this entails.

A practical solution to improve the quality of the water in our homes is to opt for an osmosis system kitchen tap: with a simple gesture we obtain healthy water which is free of impurities and has a pleasant taste.

What is an osmosis tap?

Osmosis kitchen taps are taps with a technology that makes them compatible with a system that filters and dispenses water by means of reverse osmosis.

Our double outlet osmosis tap is a single-lever kitchen tap with a rotating spout.

One of the benefits is that these taps incorporate two outlets or nozzles, one for normal water and the other for osmosis-filtered water, so there is no need to make a second hole in the worktop to fit an outlet for filtered water next to the kitchen tap.

Our Maximum Chrome technology finish guarantees the beauty, durability and strength of this model, thanks to rigorous quality control and daily monitoring during the chrome plating process to ensure optimum thicknesses of nickel and chrome for each piece.

How does an osmosis tap work?

The way an osmosis tap works is relatively straightforward.

First, water from the public water supply is fed into the reverse osmosis system where it is filtered through a semi-permeable membrane. The filtered water is stored in a storage tank and is ready for use.

The water stored in the storage tank flows through a pipe connected to the tap.

Before the water reaches the tap, it is subjected to an additional filtering process to ensure it is free from any impurities or contaminants that may have entered the storage tank. The water that comes out of the osmosis tap is therefore high quality and safe to drink.

What type of contaminants does water contain?

Water could contain a wide variety of contaminants, some of which are harmful to human health:

Microorganisms

Bacteria, viruses and parasites that can cause illnesses such as diarrhoea, typhoid fever, cholera, and others.

Chemicals

These can be industrial, agricultural or domestic, such as pesticides, herbicides, volatile organic compounds, lead and mercury, among others. We could also consider chlorine or other chemicals used in the treatment of drinking water as a drinking water contaminant.

Radioactive substances

Elements such as uranium and radon that can emit radiation and cause long-term health damage.

Organic substances

Organic compounds such as benzene and solvents, which can cause damage to our livers, kidneys or nervous systems.

Inorganic substances

These can be heavy metals such as lead, mercury and arsenic, which can cause damage to organs such as the brain, liver and kidneys.

It is important to take into account that the presence and quantity of contaminants varies according to the source and quality of water. This is why it is important to make sure that the water we drink is safe.

Problems that can result from drinking contaminated water

We should be aware that drinking contaminated water can cause a variety of health problems, some of which can be serious. For this reason, we want to make sure you know about some of them and are aware that the implementation of osmosis taps in your home can prevent them.

  1. Gastrointestinal illnesses: Water contaminated with bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms can cause gastrointestinal illnesses such as diarrhoea, cholera and typhoid fever.
  2. Liver and kidney problems: Chemical pollutants such as heavy metals and organic chemicals can cause liver and kidney damage.
  3. Respiratory problems: Water contaminated with radioactive substances such as uranium and radon can cause long-term respiratory problems.
  4. Development and growth problems: Exposure to contaminants such as lead can affect the development and growth of children.
  5. Neurological problems: Heavy metals and other contaminants can affect the nervous system and cause neurological problems, such as cognitive and behavioural impairments.

Benefits of osmosis taps compared to traditional taps

  • Elimination of contaminants: Osmosis taps have an advanced filtration system that eliminates a wide range of water contaminants such as those we have mentioned. Traditional taps do not have this ability.
  • Improves the taste of water: Osmosis taps eliminate unpleasant flavours and smells from water, making it more pleasant to drink. Traditional taps do not have this ability.
  • Economic savings: In the long term, osmosis taps can save money by eliminating the need to buy bottled water or water filters

for traditional taps.

  • Space-saving: Osmosis taps are usually smaller than traditional water filters and take up less space under the sink.
  • Greater convenience: this solution provides directly filtered tap water, which is more practical than filling jugs or bottles with filtered water.

Types of osmosis taps

Osmosis taps come in different types, colours and finishes. The most common taps are reverse osmosis systems. They have a single lever and can be installed on any kitchen sink.

Three-way osmosis taps

These taps are a popular option for those who want a single tap that delivers filtered and non-filtered water. These taps have two levers, one for filtered water and one for non-filtered water, and a third lever that allows both waters to be mixed.

Osmosis taps with LED lights

These taps have an LED light that turns on when purified water is being dispensed. As well as being useful for indicating when purified water is being dispensed, they can also add a touch of style and elegance to the kitchen.

Other types

Some of these kitchen taps can come in different styles and designs, and they also have additional features, such as temperature control and the ability to dispense carbonated water.

They are ideal for those who want a high-quality tap with a wide variety of usage options.

It is important to take into account that, regardless of the type of osmosis tap chosen, it is necessary to maintain it regularly and replace the filter according to the manufacturer's recommendations. This will ensure its proper operation and the quality of the water.

How do I install an osmosis tap?

In order to manually install an osmosis tap, you first need to know which materials are to be used for the process and what steps are usually taken.

Materials required:

  • Osmosis tap
  • Set of osmosis filters
  • Water connection pipes
  • Pipe connectors
  • Teflon tape
  • Tools such as a drill, spanner and screwdriver

Steps for installing an osmosis tap:

  1. Select the position of the tap: Choose the position where you want to install the osmosis tap. It must be near the sink and have access to the water pipe.
  2. Turn off the water supply: Before starting the installation, shut off the water supply to the main valve to avoid leaks.
  3. Install the tap: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the osmosis tap. In general, this involves drilling a hole in the worktop or sink in order to mount the tap.
  4. Connect the water pipes: Connect the water pipes of the osmosis tap to the water supply pipe. Use the necessary connectors and valves according to the type of piping you have.
  5. Connect the filtration system: Connect the osmosis filters and storage tank according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually involves connecting the water pipes to the filtration system and the storage tank.
  6. Test the tap: Open the water supply and test the osmosis tap to ensure it is working properly and that there are no leaks.

How do I change an osmosis tap?

To change an osmosis tap, you need to know what model you previously had. In general, the following are the materials and steps you need to make the change:

Materials required:

  • New osmosis tap
  • Set of osmosis filters (if required)
  • Teflon tape
  • Tools such as a screwdriver and spanner

Steps for changing an osmosis tap:
